Balak Seva Sangh
The Ramakrishna Math, after affiliation found that many children in the age group of 6-15 were staying in the neighbourhood slums. Most of the parents of these themselves were illiterate and living a life filled with social and economical challenges. Thus the children were exposed to dangerous social evils (violence, drugs, abuse etc ) in their young age itself.
Aware of this problem, we resolved to groom these children by giving them positive values from their young days itself. We instituted the ‘Swami Vivekananda Balak Seva Sangh’ in the Math and requested parents to send their kids to the Math daily. After initial reluctance, the parents have gradually begun trusting us in our mission of working for the betterment of their children. Regular Medical check up of these boys is done free of charge in the Polyclinic & Diagnostic centre of the Math. Necessary medical treatment, as and when required, is provided on the merit of the case.
Children are invited to spend their after school free time in safe and positive environment of math campus. Here they participate in activities, designed and conducted to promote their holistic education. Children start their session with daily Gita Chanting, Bhajans & Stotras, which is followed by academic classes. On weekends and holidays kids enjoy physical and cultural activities.
During long holidays Sanskar Shibir/Sanskar Vare are conducted , these are attended by over 100 kids each year.
Academics
Children are assisted with revision and school assignments. Special focus is given to language and analytical skill.
Value Education
Inculcate habit and practice of making distinction between what is RIGHT and what's WRONG.
They are also explained importance of time, hard work, resolution, dedication & being humble.
Physical wellbeing
Healthy mind lives in healthy body. From basic hygiene & grooming, to their need of nutritious diet, and routine check-up are done. Kids are taught Yogasan and trained in ground games to build strong core.
Competitions
Children are encouraged to participate in various inhouse and external competitions in various discipline ie Sports, Story telling, Powada, Elocution, Group Song, Laghunatika and Drawing are conducted. This year Solo Bhajan competition was introduced.
Celebration
All National festival and major religious festival are celebrated with enthusiasm by children under guidance of Monks & volunteers of the Math.

Rural Out Reach
For the last 17 years an educational project is actively going on at Kharawade in Mulashi, near Pune for class 1-8. A small group of teachers visits village on weekends, proving academic guidance also imparting value education & art/craft, sports skills
